Mercworx knives are quite nice because of the manufacturers complete design and attention to detail. The Mercworx knives are outstanding due to the design, balance and feel. All the large Mercworx knives feature the unique thumb ramp on the top of the knives. So when you push against an object the blade won't cut into your palm. The blades feature protrusions that keep your hand from sliding foreword. You will notice that the handle is made of standard black micarta which is fixed to the handle, and will deal with sub-zero temperatures. The knives also have a large blade (land area), which makes the knife heavier for chopping and prying.

They have a smooth handle because it will have firm retention during a confrontation and also a decently comfortable grip. Rather than choosing just one of those qualities, Mercworx spent a lot designing a handle that works both ways. Mercworx knives have the radius thumb stop, to make the knives more usable. The user can hold the Mercworx in the extended saber grip by pushing down on the stop to align the blade with his forearm. This way the knife will seem to be an extension of your forearm. The flared tip on the blades are designed that way to make maximum damage when it penetrates. It works on the same principle as the hollow point bullet.
